The Well-Kept Home

Rooms with room to breathe.

Thoughtful storage, natural light, and the luxury of a little empty space.

Bright kitchen and dining space with generous windows and natural light

A little less in view

An uncluttered room is not necessarily a room with few possessions. It is a room where the things you use have somewhere to return to. Start with one surface that bothers you, rather than attempting the entire house.

Store for the way you live

Put everyday items near the place they are used. A basket beside the door can be more useful than an elaborate system in another room. Test an arrangement with containers you own before buying new ones.

Let the light in

Clean the window, move the object blocking it and notice how the room changes through the day. A lighter curtain may help, but privacy, temperature and your budget matter too.

Enough is a useful stopping point

A home is allowed to show that people live there. Aim for a space that supports the day, rather than a space that never looks used. When a room works well enough, enjoy it.
